Burial Services

If your family's personal preference is earth burial, there are many options for designing a personalized ceremony to remember your loved one. At William L. Danks Funeral Home we feel that each funeral service should be a personal event to meet the specific beliefs and wishes of each individual family. Below are just a few options you have.

Viewing or Visitation
A public viewing or visitation provides an opportunity for the family of the deceased and his or her friends, relatives and colleagues to come together. A visitation is often held at the funeral home, but can take place in a church or other location. Friends and colleagues can pay their final respects to the deceased and offer condolences to the family. A viewing or visitation can also be private and limited to the deceased's immediate family.

Funeral Service
The milestones of life, such as birth, baptism, birthdays, graduations, marriages, anniversaries, and other events of achievement or transition, have traditionally be accompanied by a ceremony or ritual. A funeral service is a ceremony marking the celebration of one’s life. Funeral Services are most often held following the visitation and may take place in our chapel, your church, or another location of your choice.

Committal Service
A committal service or sometimes known as a graveside service occurs at the place of underground or above ground burial. Often, a committal service occurs directly after a funeral ceremony, but it can also be the only service held. Much like a funeral ceremony, a family member or other person may offer a few remarks.

Memorial Service
A memorial service is similar to a funeral service, except the body is not present. A memorial service can take place shortly after burial occurs, or can take place at a later date.

It is important to remember that each and every life lived has unique personality traits, hobbies, and interests. Regardless of the services you choose, we can provide many options for personalizing the service and ensuring that it truly reflects, honors and pays tribute to the unique life of your loved one. Personalizing a service can include but are not limited to, a photo of the person on the memorial folder, a special insert panel for the casket, customized corners for the casket that reflects interest and hobbies, special keepsake jewelry, custom video tributes, as well as balloon, dove or butterfly releases. Please feel free to contact us at (270) 274-7124 to discuss your options with personalizing a funeral service.
