James Charles "J.C." McKeown

J.C. McKeown, 92, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his home. He was born October 5, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Jim and Emma Mermon McKeown. Mr. McKeown was a retired coal miner, member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, and VFW Post 5766 in Hartford, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army.

Mr. McKeown was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ora Mae Combs McKeown; son, Daniel Lee “Danny” McKeown; daughter, Brenda Frizzell; two grandchildren, Melissa Baize and Bristol McKeown, and five brothers, Harry, Johnny, Clifford, Tommy, and Edward “Snookie” McKeown.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie McKeown of Beaver Dam and Jim McKeown of Owensboro; three daughters, Nancy Joseph of Beaver Dam, Sharon (Roy) Dixon of Beaver Dam, and Peggy McKeown of Owensboro; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and one sister, Emma (Larry) Smith of Kempton, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 30, 2017, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Calloway officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. McKeown’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
