John William Yates, 69 of Beaver Dam, made his journey to his Heavenly home on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born July 4, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana to John Melvin Yates and Laura Lorraine Green Hunt. John was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War where he was stationed on the USS Mispillion. He was a member of the Hartford Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was retired from Perdue. John was a devoted husband and known by his friends and loved ones to be a great cook, wonderful storyteller, and could make anyone laugh. He will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Minton Yates and his father, John Melvin Yates.
Survivors include his mother, Laura Hunt of Owensboro; one daughter, Monica Hale of Fair Oaks, Indiana; step-children, Debra A. (Johnnie) Keener of Hartford, Donna R. (Scott) Baize of Beaver Dam, , Destiny S. Minton of Louisville, David W. (Melanie) Minton of Tennessee and Dennis L. (Monica) Minton of McHenry; five siblings, Gary (Linda) Yates of New Lenox, IL, Tim Yates of Saskatchewan, Canada, Carolyn (Steve) Tobin of Owensboro, Cheryl (Ken) Randall of Locust Grove, GA and Laura Barral of Evansville, IN; one granddaughter, ten step-grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Yates family would like to thank the staff at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab for all of their kindness and dedication for the care of John while he was a resident.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Yates.
