Welcome to the memorial page for

Lee Roy McEwen, Jr

October 18, 1954 ~ August 1, 2016 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Lee Roy McEwen, Jr., 61, of Katy, Texas, formerly of Hartford, Kentucky passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at his residence in Hartford. He was born October 18, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee to Sylvia Etta Watkins McEwen and the late Lee Roy McEwen, Sr. Mr. McEwen was an Eagle Scout and a 1972 graduate of Arkansas High School. He graduated from University of Arkansas with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1977 and University of Evansville with a Masters in Engineering Management in 1986. He gave his all for thirty-eight years to Boardwalk Pipelines (Texas Gas) in Owensboro, Kentucky and Houston, Texas before battling brain cancer. Lee was a member of Second Baptist Church of Katy and a former member of Living Faith Baptist Church in Hartford. He trusted Christ for his salvation and proved daily how thankful he was for his family. Lee dearly loved his wife Joy. He loved the grandchildren sitting in his lap and hugging papaw. As time passed Lee’s smile only grew bigger. He loved to see those close to him succeed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and to see a good bird dog work. He enjoyed the adrenaline and roars that came with Nascar and cheering for Dale, Jr. He had a great sense of humor and a confidence; not for anything he had done, but for what Christ had done for all of us. He fought the good fight, kept the faith and finished the race.

Mr. McEwen was preceded in death by his father, Lee R. McEwen, Sr. and grandparents, Anna Mae Williams Watkins, Charlie P. Watkins, Roy D. McEwen and Lucy Noles McEwen.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joy McEwen of Katy, Texas; three sons, Matthew (Hillary) McEwen of Lexington, Michael (Sarah) McEwen of Beaver Dam and John McEwen of Hartford; two stepchildren, Joe D. (Molly) Willis of Clarksville, Tennessee and Jamie (Adam) Seitz of Jasper, Indiana; seven grandchildren, James McEwen, Eli McEwen, Peyton McEwen, Anna McEwen, Maggie McEwen, Calvin Seitz, and Anna Joy Willis; his mother, Sylvia McEwen of Texarkana, Arkansas and one sister, Gale (Steve) Woolsey of Texarkana, Arkansas.

His will to live, trust in the Lord, big ole smile, incredible work ethic and love for others will not be forgotten.
