Barry Wayne Leach

August 31, 1956 ~ July 2, 2019 (age 62)

Barry Wayne Leach, 62, of Horse Branch passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Norton’s Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. He was born August 31, 1956 in Ohio County to the late James K. and Louise Leach. Barry was a 1974 graduate of Ohio County High School where as a senior he was basketball team captain and voted All District Tournament Team. After graduation, Barry worked as an ambulance driver for the Ohio County Ambulance Service until 1981. He then went to work for Big Rivers Electric as an ambulance driver and on site medical attendant. At different times through the years, Barry worked alongside his Dad as a carpenter and builder. Most recently, he worked for Buildings by Wayne Baker for 8 years.

Barry was an avid hunter and loved farming and working outdoors, especially in his yard gardening and he was always proud to share his plants with others. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop and he adored his German Shepherd, Keish. Barry often visited his family in Louisville, but could never stay away from his home on the hill in Horse Branch, because of his love for his hometown and family.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Leach and nephew, Jarrod L. Beasley.

Survivors include two daughters, Karey Leach of Rosine and Kasey (Jason) Roth of Nashville, Tennessee; two grandsons, Jack and Seth Roth; two sisters, Patricia (Tommy) LaPaille of Louisville and Pam Wilson of Horse Branch and several nieces and nephews, Jeremy D. Beasley of Hartford, Adam Barrow of Owensboro, Brian Barrow of Owensboro, Gavin LaPaille of Louisville and Alayna LaPaille of Louisville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2019 at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Boyd Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Barry’s family from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday and 9:00 AM until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
