Dorothy (Anderson) Austin

Dorothy Anderson Austin, 101, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehab surrounded by her family. She was born October 20, 1917 in Armington, Illinois to the late Richard Anderson and Leora Pryor Anderson.  Mrs. Austin was a lifetime member of Liberty United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Austin was a member of Liberty Homemakers. She did lots of things and saw many changes in her 101 years, but was most proud of raising her children and caring for her elderly parents. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting, and knitting in her spare time.  

Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Shirley Buel Rone in 1942; second husband, Huston Harold Austin in 2004; daughter-in-law, Joanne Rone in 2007; son-in-law, Larry Dale Bratcher in 2011; daughter, Charlotte Ann Bratcher in 2012; one grandson, Steven Buel Rone in 2016 and two brothers, Don and Tom Anderson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Herbert Buel (Angela) Rone of Beaver Dam and Harold Glen “Butch”  (Lola) Austin of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Donna Marlene (Steve) Catt of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Jimmy (Tonya) Rone, Jason (Jennifer) Bratcher, Jared (Ellen) Bratcher, Jeremy Chad Bratcher, Julie Bratcher (Pat) Francis, Eve Austin (Freddie) Baker, Brandy Austin (Justin) Smith, Heather Catt (Jason) Hadley, Laura Catt (Chris) Ratliff; many great-grandchildren that love her dearly and one brother, Richard Lee Anderson of Bloomington, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Mike Atkins officiating. Burial will be private in Riverview Cemetery in Morgantown. Friends may visit with Mrs. Austin’s family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
