Shirley McStoots Phelps, 76, of Cromwell, Kentucky passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, at Ohio County Hospital. She was born December 9, 1940, in Grayson County, Kentucky to the late Russell B. McStoots, Sr. and Angie Constant McStoots. Mrs. Phelps retired from Professional Care Nursing & Rehab and was employed by Cowden Sewing Factory. She was also a member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Phelps was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Martine Fulkerson, Goldie McStoots, and Ruby McStoots; four brothers, Kennedy McStoots, Robert McStoots, Joseph McStoots, and Russell McStoots, Jr.; and her first husband, Dion Harder.
Survivors include her husband, Robert T. Phelps of Cromwell; one daughter, Candy (Melvin) Peach of Hartford; two grandchildren, Amanda Strauss and Jeremy (Mary) Jones; six great-grandchildren, Logan Strauss, Titus Strauss, Halee Jo Jones, Seth Jones and Maxx Jones; one brother, Jerry (Annadean) McStoots; two sisters, Aileen Hall of Narrows and Nancy (Dee) Willis of Fordsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 23, 2017, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pattyville. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
