Thomas Gene Hillard

Thomas "Tom" Gene Hillard, 71, passed away, Monday, September 11, 2017, at Ohio County Hospital due to an August 25, 2017, diagnosis of Lung Cancer. Tom was born June 1, 1946 in McHenry, Kentucky to the late Harvey and Lucille Goodall Hillard. He was a kind and thoughtful person, and fought valiantly to stay with us longer. Tom was very artistic and loved refurbishing items he found at yard sales and flea markets.  During the Vietnam War, Tom served his country in the United States Navy. He was grateful to have his brother, David, move in the old family home three years ago to care for him since he could no longer manage on his own. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  

Tom was preceded to the Lord by his parents, one sister, Barbara Sue Hillard Midkiff, and three brothers, Benny, Larry and Terry Hillard.

Survivors include one sister, Wilma Ruth Hillard Wilson; three brothers, Ed Hillard, David (Shirley) Hillard and Steve (Elaine) Hillard; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 16, 2017, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Pete Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
