Alita Martell Whitehouse Mitchell, 90, of Horse Branch, Kentucky passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born May 25, 1934, in Rosine, Kentucky to the late WH “Willie” Whitehouse and Dona Wilson Whitehouse. Martell was a homemaker and member of Caneyville Church of Christ.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Kendell B. Mitchell; two brothers, Bernard Whitehouse and Eddie Whitehouse and two stepsisters, Johnnie Pauline Hurt and Betty Marie Givens.
She leaves behind, three sons, Mark (Marty) Mitchell of Hartford, Bruce (Lena) Mitchell of Hartford, and Brent (Robin) Mitchell of Horse Branch; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Mike Whitehouse of Utica; one sister, Hilda (Bobby) Funk of Hartford three stepbrothers, Lewis Hopper, Richard (Jane) Hopper, and Edward Ray (Kathy) Hopper and two stepsisters, Shirley Himes and Suzanne Mcuen.
At Martell’s request a graveside service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Slaty Creek Cemetery in Beaver Dam with Mark Mitchell, Jr officiating.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to, Slaty Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Eddie Shephard, 2792 State Route 269, Beaver Dam, KY 42320.
