Christopher Bechtel Obituary

Christopher Bechtel passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the age of 62. He was born in Louisville, KY to the late Bettie Ashcraft (Martin) and Harold Bechtel, and was the youngest of five. He attended Ohio County High School, where he was a star lineman. He was a long time resident of River Ridge.

A graduate of University of New Orleans, he was involved in various construction projects throughout the city of New Orleans for the last 35 years; most recently as Transportation Coordinator Lafarge Holcim.

Chris was a devout Catholic who exemplified the true Southern gentleman. He was known for his kindness, his humbleness, and his selflessness. He led his life with a level of integrity few are able to attain. He enjoyed canasta, his Basset hound Bitsy, fishing, and football, but above all his true love was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his most cherished wife, Cornelia (Connie) O’Sullivan Bechtel, his daughter Holly B.  Jordan (Patrick), son Andrew Bechtel, and daughter Kellie O’Sullivan.  Other survivors include his precious grandchildren, Sage Azurdia and Elizabeth Jordan, as well as siblings Cheryl Bechtel, Becky Durham and Terry Bechtel and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving first wife Elizabeth Fay (Norris) and brother Martin Bechtel.
