Eldon Jay “Jaybird” McKinley, 81, passed away on November 27, 2025, at home with his family by his side. Born on April 28, 1944, he lived a life marked by strength, humility, and a love for friends, family, land, and country. He attended Cool Springs Church and was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of Youngstown, Ohio.
Following his military career as a medic in the Vietnam War, he worked many dedicated years at General Motors before retiring to the life he loved most—working the land. A true steward of the outdoors, he was a passionate cattle farmer, beekeeper, fisherman, and hunter.
He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Kay McKinley; his son, Steven Jay McKinley; his sister, Anna Lois Holbert, and his partner, Bonita Daniel.
Per his wishes, no funeral service will be held and a private ceremony will take place. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
