Marcella Kassinger Obituary

On February 1, 2026, Marcella “Kay” (Geary) Kassinger passed away peacefully in Owensboro, Kentucky, surrounded by her devoted husband, three sons, a daughter-in-law, and a nephew at her bedside. Kay’s life was marked by deep connection, quiet strength, and an enduring capacity to love others fully.

Kay shared 45 years of marriage, since 1980, with her beloved husband, William Kent Kassinger. Together they built a life rooted in loyalty, care, and resilience. She was a devoted mother to Dr. Samuel Kassinger; Joey and Nicole Kassinger; and Mikey Kassinger, and a loving stepmother to William “Billy” and Crystal Kassinger, Donald and Beverly Kassinger, and Kim Kassinger. Her pride and joy extended to her grandchildren, Brooklyn and Graham Simmons, Christian and Winter Kassinger, Fallon Marie Kassinger, Nicolas Kassinger, Luke Kassinger, Savannah Kassinger, Sierra Kassinger, Dusty Willis, and Ricky Willis, and four great-grandchildren.

One of Kay’s greatest joys was traveling the open road by RV. She found freedom and peace in the journey itself, savoring each stop along the way. Wherever she traveled, she made sure to bring home a keepsake, a T-shirt, a cup, and a hat, small reminders of places seen, memories made, and moments shared. Kay was a woman who cherished the simple things in life and took pictures everywhere she went. She took genuine joy in God’s small miracles and everyday gifts, finding beauty in quiet mornings, shared laughter, and the comfort of being together.

Kay is survived by her brothers, Rayburn “Bucky” and Wendy Geary, and Bill Geary, as well as a large and loving circle of nieces and nephews who knew her as a steady presence and a listening ear. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sally Geary; five sisters; one brother; a son; and a grandchild.

Those who knew Kay remember her for her warmth, kindness, and the way she made people feel seen and valued. She loved fiercely and without condition, whether relationships were near or shaped by time and distance. Kay’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the journeys she embraced, and the quiet faith and love that guided her life.
