Samuel Lee "Sammy" Keown, Jr.

Samuel Lee “Sammy” Keown, Jr., 73 of Centertown, Kentucky passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Ohio County Healthcare. He was born on January 9, 1947 in Central City, Kentucky to Samuel Lee Keown, Sr., and the late Jessie Lois Jones Parkhurst. Sammy was a member of New Assembly Church, was employed by Apex Tool and Die and was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and music and was a man of many talents, he could fix anything. Sammy loved his family and over the last 10 years he was committed to serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Jessie and Jack Parkhurst.

He leaves behind to cherish many memories, his beloved wife of 10 years, Lori Leach Keown of Centertown; his father and stepmother, Samuel Lee and Martha Keown Sr. of Centertown; one son, Samuel Lee Keown III; two daughters, Samantha and Shannon; one sister, Patty (Kenny) Calvert of Evansville, Indiana; two brothers, Dannie Joe (Mayeth) Keown of Wadesville, Indiana and Tony (Charla) Parkhurst of Corpus Christi, Texas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at New Assembly Church, 425 KY-1543, Hartford, KY 42347, with Rev. Lealin Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery in Echols, Kentucky with full military honors provided by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Wednesday at New Assembly Church and from 9 AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.

Due to health and public safety mandates, capacity will be limited to fifty percent and facial coverings will be required.
