On Thursday, May 7, 2020, Teresa Rea, fierce believer of Christ and loving Momma, passed away at the age of 64. Teresa was born an ‘army brat’ on September 12, 1955 in Maryland to Paul and Sybil Williams. Though she resided in many places including Africa, West Virginia and Pennsylvania; Kentucky was her last earthly stop.
Out of the roles she played, there was one she described as ‘the most incredible job, that brought her tremendous joy’ and that was being a Mother. She had three children. Tara (Roy) Toomey who she described as humble and compassionate, John (Amy) Rea who she described as a leader among men and Tonya (Julian) Phelps who she described as the baby, strong spirited and stubborn.
Teresa had a love for good food, good music and the good Lord. Anytime she could combine all three of those things, was when she was the happiest. She had a passion for cooking; you were blessed if you ate a meal she prepared. Music spoke to her soul, and it wasn’t rare to hear her jamming out to the Beatles, Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan, just to name a few. She enjoyed many bible studies and prayer groups as a member of Living Faith Baptist Church, but her weekly jail ministry held a very sweet and very special place in her heart. She was known for her spunky attitude, her willingness to help, her strong faith and her compassionate spirit.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul; her mother Sybil and her sister Vickie. She is survived by her three children; her six grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Abby, Lily, Lilah and Norah; her brothers Jesse and Mike; a few aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
‘Golden slumbers, Fill your eyes, Smiles await you when you rise, Sleep pretty darling, Do not cry’
