Winston L. Abbott, 81, of Cromwell, Kentucky passed away Friday, July 18, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Southern Kentucky. He was born January 23, 1944, in Echols, Kentucky to the late Lester and Dorothy Geary Abbott. Mr. Abbott was a retired mail carrier and member of Sugar Grove Church of Christ at Renfrow. He attended Jefferson Community College and Jefferson County Electronic School. Mr. Abbott proudly served in the United States Army serving from 1965-1966 in Cam Rahn Bay Vietnam. He was a former board member of Cromwell Fire Department. He won the first place Amateur Chef at Taste of Ohio County. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, landscaping, cooking and baking as well as raising chickens, cattle and hay on the farm.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Darrell Abbott, Lonnie Abbott and Paul Abbott.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 21, 2025, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Lealin Geary, Rev. Ethan Edens, and Rev. Roger Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Select Cemetery with full military honors by Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Mr. Abbott’s family from 9 AM until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Abbott leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty-eight (plus two) years, Delois Keown Abbott of Cromwell; treasured daughter, Stephanie (Byron) Gary of Louisville; “favorite” grandson, Cohen; siblings, Alice Fay Abbott Henon and Calvin Woodrow Abbott; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Joe Van Roberts, my elder and friend, for his continued concern and calls, Dr. Hammad for caring for us with every step of this journey, Chris Basham, a true friend 24/7, The Medical Center at Bowling Green Hospitality House and Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.
His wife’s last goodbye tribute to her ever-loving and faithful husband whose very touch and holding her hand calmed her in their most difficult moments.
In lieu of cut flowers they request living house plants.
